Police Station Advice and Assistance
We can represent suspects when they are under investigation by the police. This may be either when they are under arrest or alternatively when they have been warned to attend a police station to be interviewed as a volunteer.
Being interviewed under caution can be a stressful and nerve-wracking experience and it is important that you are aware of your legal rights and that your legal rights are protected and advanced when being interviewed by the police.

Funding in the Police station
The majority of police station advice is non-means tested which means that it is quite often free of charge to be represented in the police station, regardless of your income.
If you are interviewed under caution by an alternative organisation such as the Department of work and pensions funding is available depending on your personal circumstances. Our team can advise you in relation to this prior to attending the relevant interview location.
Representation at the Magistrates Court and Youth Court
If you have been charged with or are summonsed / postal requisitioned for a criminal offence then the likelihood is that your case will initially commence at the Magistrates Court.
We have a dedicated Magistrates Court team who deal with a vast number of cases on a day to day basis. The majority of cases conclude at the Magistrates Court however more serious offences will progress to the Crown Court if the Magistrates Court feel that their powers are insufficient to deal with such a case.
In certain cases (either way offences) you may be able to choose to elect to have a trial in the Crown Court but Cobleys Solicitors will advise you every step of the way as to what your best options are in relation to your case.
Funding in the Magistrates Court
Despite common belief legal aid is very much still available for criminal cases in the Magistrates Court for the majority of cases. There is a 2 stage test for legal aid which your solicitor can discuss with you prior to representing you.
Our experienced Magistrates Court team deal with a variety of cases before the courts which include more minor offences such as road traffic offences, theft, fraud, assaults and drug possession to more serious offences including drug trafficking, robbery, burglary, homicide and sexual offences.
